SUKABUMI-West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) expressed condolences on the unfortunate burning of Zahro Express ship passengers, Sunday (01.01.17) morning.
As a result of the incident, 23 passengers died and 17 others were unaccounted. One of victims is a Civil Servant retired in the West Java Provincial Agriculture Office, (Late) Masduki Mangkudisastra who was also the father of Head of the sub-section Regional Owned Enterprise Banking Investment Bureau and West Java Regional Secretariat Owned Enterprise.
"My condolences to families of the victims and hopefully the late Husnul khatimah," Aher said on the sidelines of a working visit to the South West Java, on Tuesday (02.01.17).
He welcomed the rapid response of the Minister of Transport, Budi Karya Sumadi who has deftly coordinated with Jasa Raharja that the survivors are still being treated in the hospital and get the best care, as well as for the families of passengers who died, in order to get compensation in accordance with the provisions.
Aher hopes this incident be a lesson to the organizers of mass transportation, especially in West Java to always prioritize the safety of passengers to double check and enforce performance standards of vehicle.
"Hopefully, with so we can minimize the occurrence of similar accidents", he concluded.
