    Experts Said that the Dissemintaors of Hoax Must be Reported to Police

    BANDUNG-The increasing number in circulation of hoax in social media has negative impact for the society. The expert of Information Technology (IT), Onno W Purbo, said that the government should not only received complaints and reported the disseminators to the police.

    "The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) shoul arrest the disseminator, and take them to court," he said to the journalists in Bandung Exterminates Hoax Campaign (ABBAH), at Ir. H. Djuanda street, Bandung city, Sunday (19/3/2017).

    Onno explained that the government is very concerned with the eradication of hoax news, for example by giving education regarding anti-hoax to every school. Futhermore, the government should give the education regarding the ethics in using internet.

    "So, in my opinion, enforce the law and give the education regarding the ethics in using internet to the society in order to create a conducive social situation," he said.

    In the same place, the Director General of Information and Public Communication, Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, said that the government cannot arrest the disseminators.

    "We only submit the reports to the Police to take legal actions for the disseminators," she said.

    Niken explained that since last year, Kemenkominfo had closed at least 800 thousands sites that were indicated spreading hoax.

    Niken added that the campaign anti hoax and healthy surf/browse education have been done since 2014 in several cities in Indonesia.

    "We appeal to the public, before we post something we have to think carefully about it or also known as Careful before Sharing (Teliti sebelum Sharing)," she said.
