YOGYAKARTA-Arterial road segment or ring road in Yogyakarta now officially changed its name to Padjajaran street and Siliwangi street. The second change of the name of the road has been poured through the Decree of the Governor of DIY number 166 / Kep / 2017 on the Naming of Arterial Road (Ring Road) Yogyakarta and has been signed by the Governor of Yogyakarta on 24 August 2017.

Padjajaran Street along the 10 km from the intersection of Jombor to the T section Maguwoharjo and Siliwangi road along 8.58 km from the intersection of Pelem Gurih to the intersection Jombor, inaugurated directly by the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan in area intersection Jombor Sleman, Yogyakarta, Tuesday (03/10/2017). Also present were Netty Prasetyani Heryawan, members of the House of Representatives Popong Otje Djunjunan, Mayor of Bandung Ridwan Kamil and East Java Governor represented by Sekda Ahmad Soekardi and representatives of the Supreme Court.

Governor Aher welcomes the naming of two streets which is the name of king and kingdom of Sunda in the 14th century was initiated by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. According to him, it is a great history and cultural reconciliation that will further strengthen the brotherhood of two major tribes in Indonesia namely the Javanese and Sundanese.

"It's a very good idea and builds a solid fraternity between two major tribes in Indonesia.

Aher reveals, the history of the past is the event of Pasundan Bubat or Bubat Wars that occurred in the year 1357 and no doubt disturb the emotional relationship between the tribe of Java and Sunda.

"There is a psychological thrust of historical events that often disturb the emotional relationship between Sundanese and Javanese tribes, namely the Pasundan Bubat or Bubat in 1357 or about 600 years ago. These events often appear on the collective emotions of both parties that appear at the time -on certain moment, "he said.

For example, continued Aher, as in the marriage custom, where when there is a Javanese woman married by Sundanese men it is not allowed. On the other hand, Javanese men may marry Sundanese women.

"There are still such that although over time the incident is increasingly eroded and is now gone," he said.

Aher also asserted that past events are only to be remembered and not to cause problems or hostilities in the present.

"Of course past events are just to be remembered and should not cause problems let alone hostility to the present to the offspring of these two great ethnic groups," Aher explained.

"Therefore, we agree that negative feelings or sentiments triggered by the past events need to be overcome." Alhamdulillah these obstacles today are ended in Yogyakarta, "he added.

According to him a stronger bond is in the context of Indonesian nationality and Islam ie ukhuwah Islamiyah.

"The stronger bond between us is in the context of Indonesian nationality and Islamic ukhuwah Islamiyah, it's more than tribal-related ties," he said.

Not until there, the plan Aher will also try to name the road Padjajaran and Siliwangi exist in East Java Province.

"Hopefully, I will contact Pakde Karwo (East Java Governor) to have the name of Padjajaran and Siliwangi road in East Java as well as Hayam Wuruk and Majapahit road in West Java," he said.

In the same place, Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X considers naming this road is an important event in the history of the nation's journey.

"This event I consider to be a very important event in the history of the nation's journey," said Sultan.

In line with Aher, the Sultan also has hope, as the two largest ethnic groups in Indonesia do not have to leverage past historical conflicts of revenge, prejudice and hatred.

"I agree with what the Governor said (Jabar) .We actually have only hope that is
resentment, prejudice and hatred which ultimately require us to forget the erroneous past and mistakes and we also need to forgive each other, "the Sultan said.

Artery road is itself a national road along 36 km which is divided into three streets namely the north-western artery road, the northern artery road and the southern artery road. Three arterial roads are subdivided into six streets and two of them are named Padjajaran road and Siliwangi road. While the other four streets are named Brawijaya street, Majapahit, Ahmad Yani and Prof. Dr. Wirjono Projodikoro street.
