    Overcoming Flood, West Java Province Encourages Cieunteung and Curug Jompong Project

    BANDUNG-West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) will continue to encourage the construction project of Cieunteung retention pond and Curug Jompong tunnel in anticipation of flood disaster that hit West Java area in the event of rainy season.

    West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan said the two projects are expected to be completed in 2019.

    "It has been simulated, the marker is already in West Java Provincial Goverment Insya Alloh curug jompong will be able to we finish," said Governor of West Java to reporters at the Gedung Sate Bandung, Monday (13/11/2017)

    Heryawan mentions so far the problems that arise when the flood hit an area in West Java, it is difficult to recede because of entering the Bandung basin so gathered in Sapan.

    "From tens of rivers when entering Saguling into a river, meaning when entering Bale Endah and Dayeuh Kolot fused into Sapan and Saguling," said Heryawan

    In addition to encouraging the development project of Cieunteung retention pond and the Curug Jompong tunnel. Heryawan said that far more important is the behavior change with attention to the environment, especially forest areas.

    "If the conservation of nature is very important because it is not only related to the settlement of the flood but the hydrology of the water, for example, there is no current of PDAM water in Bekasi and Jakarta without the Citarum river," said the Governor.

    With regard to flood relief in some areas of West Java, Aher asserted that West Java Provincial Government is always at the forefront of providing disaster relief assistance.

    But further Kang Aher, greeting the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan said the problem of disaster mitigation is not limited to cope with providing assistance. There is far more important that long-term thinking such as good forest management so that the flood disaster does not recur in the future.
