BANDUNG - West Java Provincial Government signed a joint agreement and cooperation agreement with National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas HAM), at Gedung Sate Bandung, Tuesday (17/04/2018).

Cooperation agreed by both parties is related to the promotion, protection, enforcement, and fulfillment of human rights in West Java.

West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) mentioned that special attention related to human rights in West Java is very important and has an impact on national development. Because, one fifth of Indonesia is a citizen of West Java.

Aher says that man is the central point of development. So talk about the fulfillment of human rights not only within the scope of the constitution, but rather human values should be the main basis of human rights.

"For example West Java," Aher said, "Human rights are upheld in relation to the right to education, health and wellbeing."

"Including the affairs of faith, the importance of honoring awards to others, it needs to be improved," he said.

"Another thing to note," Aher said, "It is the people's right to obtain a viable economy, which is important given the high economic disparities in Indonesia that make the gap between strong and weak people."

Meanwhile, National Commission of Human Rights Chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik said economic growth and development in West Java is very rapid.

This growth according to him, should be accompanied by progress in the field of human rights enforcement. So that economic growth and development can be aligned with improving the quality of human resources.

"If offset by human rights, in the future West Java could be an example of other provinces, even other countries," said Damanik.

Damanik mentioned that as long as Governor Aher leads West Java over other areas, human rights understanding has become an important part of development in West Java.

"Our presence is to strengthen development in West Java in human rights perspective," he said.
