KUALA LUMPUR-Ahead of the closing of SEA Games 2017, the medal hunt is still ongoing. Up to August 27 at 22:00 local time, Indonesia is still in the top 5 by reaching 31 gold, 50 silver and 58 bronze. Of the achievement of 139 medals, 9 of 31 gold Indonesia successfully donated by athletes from West Java.
West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) admitted quite happy about the contribution of West Java athletes for the SEA Games, although in the arena many reports of fraud that need to be evaluated by the organizing committee.
"I got a report from the Chairman of West Java KONI that in the arena, our athletes need to get a lot of support, with our presence here hopefully in the remaining matches, Indonesia can increase the medal purse through the number of matches", Aher said at a meeting of athletes' coach from West Java at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Sunday (27/8/17).
His visit to provide direct support was accompanied by Head of Sports Agency, Yudha Munajat, Chairman of Commission V West Java Parliament, Syamsul Bahri and Member of Commission V, Asyanti Rozana Talib.
Chairman of West Java KONI, Ahmad Saefudin mentioned that West Java athletes have contributed 9 of 31 gold Indonesia, they are:
Athletics Branch: Hendro, Eki Febri Ekawati and Agus Prayogo. Archery: Sri Ranti. Silat: male team athlete (Anggi Faisal Mubarok, Asep Yuldan Sani, and Nunu Nugraha). Badminton: Men's team. Swimming: Triady Fauzi Sidiq
Judo: Iksan Apriyadi. Shooting: Muhamad Naufal
"Gratitude Alhamdulillah, Indonesia contingent strengthened by the best athletes from West Java, and they dominate to achieve gold for Indonesia," said Ahmad Saefudin.
On that occasion, Aher also handed over money assistance 'kadeudeuh' from West Java province worth Rp1, 4 M for all Indonesian contingent from West Java, they consist of 131 athletes, 17 trainers and 3 referees.
The athletes look happy to get a visit from the provincial government of West Java, "It's great to have been visited by Mr Governor, the athletes here need support," said one of the gold-winning athletes, Iksan Apriyadi.
The gathering was attended by several representatives of athletes still living in Kuala Lumpur, as most athletes have returned to their homeland. The Governor of West Java is scheduled to watch the SEA Games 2017 Final Tests at Hall 1, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, at 2:00 pm local time.
