BANDUNG-Improving the mobility and performance of agricultural extension workers in guiding farmers, West Java Provincial Government handed over a grant to the 1,480 agricultural extension contract workers in the form of money for purchasing motorcycles.
The grants totalling Rp 6 billion from West Java budget in 2015 handed over symbolically by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) to the West Java Agricultural Extension Workers (Perhiptani) at Pakuan Building, Bandung, Wednesday (06/01).
Aher revealed, the role of agricultural extension workers in guiding farmers on how to produce good agriculture is important, especially in West Java as the national granary.
"Agricultural extension workers was very meritorious, that’s why we provide assistance to 1,480 people to improve their performance,” he said.
West Java provincial government handed over the grant to the account of the Council of Perhiptani of West Java, which is then forwarded directly to the accounts of members which monitored by the Governing Council in each District/City.
Aher targeted all agricultural extension workers in West Java has a motorcycle. "The remains is 1,244 agricultural extension workers will be supported in early 2016," he said.
“The form of motorcycles is based on our financial capabilities, secondly this is the most appropriate vehicle to facilitate their mobility managing and communicate with farmers will be higher," he added.
