BANDUNG-West Java has a very important role in the development of sharia economy in Indonesia.
As the country with the largest population nationally, 46.5 million people and 98% of the population are Muslim, West Java has a number of potential human resources factors to be developed and directed to become the main human resources driving the development of sharia economy in Indonesia.
Nevertheless, the penetration of utilization of sharia financial services in West Java still needs to be improved. This is reflected in the share of utilization of Islamic banking financing services in West Java to the total of banking loans in West Java is still relatively small, ie 8.4%, although it is better than the share of utilization of national sharia banking services to total national banking credit which only reached 5.9%.
"The condition of syariah financial development in West Java observed in the second quarter of 2017 has increased," said Head of West Java Bank Indonesia Wiwiek Sisto Widayat, Wednesday (13/9).
This is driven by growth in sharia banking financing in West Java. Until second quarter 2017, the growth of sharia financing in West Java of 10.6% (yoy) increased from I quarter 2017 by 8.4% (yoy). Based on the distribution of its type of activities, sharia financing in West Java is still dominated for consumption activities by 49%.
Meanwhile, the utilization of sharia financing for the formation of working capital of 31% and for the purposes of new investment activities 21%. jo
