BANDUNG-President Joko Widodo this morning, Saturday, November 10, 2018, departed for Bandung in the framework of a two-day work visit in West Java Province. The president and his entourage took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at 07:05 WIB using the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1.
Upon arrival at the Air Force Air Base, Husein Sastranegara Bandung at 07.35 WIB, the Head of State headed directly to the Cikutra National Heroes Cemetery (TMPN). West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil accompanied Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the National Pilgrimage Ceremony on the occasion of Heroes 'Day, at the Cikutra Heroes' Cemetery in Bandung, Saturday (11/10/18).
This morning President Joko Widodo acted as the inspector of the ceremony at the Commemoration of Heroes' Day in 2018. This year, the National Heroes Day commemoration was centered in Bandung, West Java.
During the ceremony, it was held in memory of the November 10, 1945 battle in Surabaya by ringing sirens for 1 minute. Followed by the main event, namely sowing flowers to a number of tombs of national heroes and figures of West Java, including the tombs of Danudirja Setiabudi, Abdul Muis, Moestopo, Nurtanio, Sulaeman, Aang Kunaefi, Mashudi and Yogi S.M.
The ceremony which took place solemnly ended with a prayer reading for the spirits of the heroes by Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
The Working Cabinet Ministers present included Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and National Police Chief Tito Karnavian.
After the ceremony, the President left the ceremony while carrying flower sowing on the tomb of several heroes such as Air Vice Admiral Nurtanio Pringgoadisurdjo, Commodore Sulaiman, Dr. Setiabudi Danudirdja or Douwes Dekker, Prof. Dr. Moestopo, and HR. Moh. Yogie S. Memet.
Before leaving the Cikutra TMPN, the President also had time to hold and take pictures with the family of heroes who were present at the Heroes' Day commemoration ceremony.
Cycling Around Bandung
There is something special about Heroes' Day celebrations in Bandung this year. Because the Siliwangi Military Command III held a relaxed bicycle event titled "Bandung Ocean of Bicycles", which was released and was directly followed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, in the front area of ??Gedung Sate Bandung, Saturday (11/10/18), ended Commemoration Ceremony for Heroes' Day in 2018 at Cikutra Heroes Cemetery, Bandung.
Dressed with independence heroes complete with onthel bicycles, the President of the Republic of Indonesia leads this relaxed bicycle. The specified route is Jalan Diponegoro as the starting point - Jalan Dago - Jalan Merdeka - Jalan Lembong - Jalan Tamblong - Jalan Asia Afrika - Jalan Sudirman - Jalan Gardujati - Jalan Pasir Kaliki - Jalan Pasteur - Jalan Cihampelas - Jalan Wastukencana - Jalan Purnawarman - Jalan Ranggagading - Jalan Sawunggaling - Jalan Tamansari - Jalan Cikapayang - Jalan Surapati - Jalan PUSDAI - and return to Jalan Diponegoro.
Unmitigated, as many as 25,000 West Java people participated in enlivening this event. With the theme of Heroes' Day in 2018, namely "The Spirit of Heroes in My Heart", it is hoped that the example of the heroes will become a capital for all components of the nation in maintaining, nurturing and strengthening unity in developing the country.
