    Milk consumption in Indonesia is The Lowest

    BANDUNG-After seeing the condition of the Indonesian community in exploiting the food from fisheries and livestock commodities, then the malnutrition still haunts people of Indonesia.

    It thus, revealed by Professor of IPB, Prof. Ali Khomsan, in the activities that take place at the Grand Hotel Preanger, Wednesday afternoon (23/3).

    According to Ali, from the data collected for the consumption of milk, Indonesia ranked the lowest which was 13.5 litres per capita per year.

    While the comparator countries, namely Singapore amounted to 46.1 litres per capita per year, India 48.6 litres per capita per year, Malaysia 53.6 litres per capita per year, the Netherlands 79.6 litres per capita per year, US with 80.4 litres per capita per year and UK 112.2 litres per capita per year.

    For meat consumption compared to Malaysia, Indonesia also low at 1.75 to 2.61 kg per capita per year, while in Malaysia at 15 kg per capita per year.

    Indonesia's egg consumption is also low at 9.8 kg per capita per year and Malaysia 19.4 kg per capita per year.

    Next, for Indonesian fish consumption of 32 kg per capita per year, Malaysia amounted to 45 kg per capita per year and Japan's 100 per kg per capita per year. Malnutrition should be watched out because it adversely affects the quality of primary school.

    Some of the possible impacts to the children is fail to grow and interfere with cognitive development. While for adulthood, said Ali the malnutrition decrease the productivity as well as metabolic disorders that can cause various diseases.
