PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman was the supervisor of the XXVIII Regional Autonomy Day ceremony, in the courtyard of Gedung Sate Bandung, Thursday (25/4/2024).

Regional Autonomy Day 2024 carries the theme 'Sustainable Regional Autonomy towards a Green Economy and Healthy Environment'.

Herman said that the West Java Provincial Government is on the same track as the Minister of Home Affairs' direction in regional development, including a green economy and a healthy environment.

"The West Java Provincial Government is on line. Thank God, West Java is concerned about the development of a green economy and a healthy environment, good practices have started with the Friday Car Free program at Gedung Sate," said Herman Suryatman.

Herman explained that state civil servants (ASN) who work at Gedung Sate are asked to use public transportation every Friday.

"From Gedung Sate we are raising awareness of the importance of the green economy, starting from small things, going to the office using public transportation," he said.

After that, Herman said he would encourage the Friday Car Free program to be implemented at the regional level.

"Then, invite districts and cities to work together, starting from the City of Bandung then later areas in the Bandung Basin, ultimately 27 city districts must execute, developing a green economy and a healthy environment," he said.

Herman reminded city and district governments to pay attention to development related to improving community welfare.

"Increasing people's welfare through improving the quality of education, reducing poverty rates, reducing unemployment. Increasing the Human Development Index, which is no less important is controlling inflation," he said.

Herman said that the Central Government is targeting by 2024 the stunting rate in children to fall to 14 percent. Meanwhile, West Java is still at 21 percent.

"We have to reduce it, I'm sure we can, it can be reduced if we work together," he said.

Herman said that coordination and synergy among all levels of the Provincial Fokopimda and city districts needed to be improved in taking strategic steps in an effort to reduce the stunting rate in West Java.
