PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin stated that the inauguration of the revitalization of the Cikarang Bridge which connects the EJIP - MM2100 Industrial Area in Bekasi Regency can facilitate access for residents and workers.

The construction of the bridge is the result of collaboration between the West Java Provincial Government and the Bekasi Regency Regional Government to improve the welfare of workers and the community because it can facilitate accessibility.

"So today we, the West Java Provincial Government, are inaugurating the revitalization of the Cikarang Bridge and of course it is very beneficial for the community and workers in making movement easier," said Bey Machmudin after the inauguration of the Cikarang Bridge in Bekasi Regency, Wednesday (1/5/2024).

According to Bey, the completion of the revitalization of the Cikarang Bridge proves that the West Java Provincial Government is committed to giving appreciation to workers who have improved the country's economy.

"So this is proof that the West Java Provincial Government appreciates workers (laborers) who have worked well and contributed to the country's economy," he added.

"The Acting Regent mentioned earlier that today is International Workers' Day. We are paying attention to the welfare of workers. The inauguration of this bridge is also for workers' access," added Bey.

Apart from that, the event also handed over road and bridge assets from the West Java Provincial Government to the Bekasi Regency Regional Government.

That way, according to Bey, monitoring and maintenance will be safer because it can be monitored regularly by the Bekasi Regency Government.

"(The handover) is and must be safe," he said.

The inauguration also coincided with International Labor Day, as a marker that this location is part of the history of Bekasi Regency.

Moreover, on the Cikarang II Bridge (which is now being revitalized) previously stood "Omah Labor" which has been an icon of the labor movement in Bekasi Regency.

The bridge connecting the EJIP - MM2100 Industrial Area consists of two bridges. Bridge I was completed and has been used by the community since 2017.

Meanwhile, Bridge II will only be completed at the end of December 2023 after the "Omah Labor" building that stands on it has been relocated.
