DKI JAKARTA -- Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin attended the first plenary meeting of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to determine the chairman, deputy chairman and secretary of the MWA for the 2024-2029 period.

The plenary meeting held at the office of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) Friday (25/4/2024) evening finally agreed that the chairman of the ITB MWA 2024-2029 would be Budi Gunadi Sadikin (Minister of Health).

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman is former Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan, and secretary Irawati.

Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Ignasius Jonan are members of the ITB MWA from community representatives. Then Irawati was a member of the ITB MWA representing the academic senate.

The first plenary meeting held after the election of 10 ITB MWA members for the 2024-2029 period some time ago was also witnessed by three ex-officio ITB MWA members apart from the Governor of West Java. They are the Director General of Diktristek representing the Minister of Education and Culture, the Chancellor of ITB, and the Chair of the ITB Academic Senate.

The plenary meeting for the election of ITB MWA leadership went smoothly without objections from MWA members. It's just that when determining the deputy chairman, the MWA members were faced with two choices, namely Ignasius Jonan or Bambang Brodjonegoro (former Minister of Research and Technology/Head of BRIN).

After the chairman, deputy chairman and secretary of the ITB MWA agreed together, the next agenda was the formulation of the work program and determining the schedule and agenda for the MWA meeting.

The implementation of these two agendas will be held in the near future awaiting direction from the chairman of the ITB MWA, Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

Bey Machmudin, who is also an ITB alumnus, hopes that the 2024-2029 ITB MWA management will bring better changes to the institution and society in general.

As a leader in West Java, Bey wants ITB to contribute more to development, especially in the Greater Bandung transportation sector which is currently being prepared for construction.

"ITB has a big name and is the best PTN in Indonesia. As a campus located in Bandung, we want ITB to contribute to solving Greater Bandung's transportation problems," he hoped.
