Acting Regent of Bogor Appreciates Umbara as the First Campus in Indonesia to Implement a Smart and Green Energy Campus

PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. BOGOR - Acting Regent of Bogor Asmawa Tosepu appreciated Muhammadiyah University Bogor Raya (Umbara) for being the first in Indonesia to implement a Smart and Green Energy Campus.

He conveyed this while attending a halalbihalal event and witnessing the signing of the Smart and Green Energy Campus MOU between Umbara and PLN Icon Plus, at the SBS Building, Umbara Campus, Bogor Regency, Monday (29/4/2024).

Asmawa said that the increasing intensity of climate change and the threat of a climate crisis has made the need for green transformation on a global scale increasingly urgent, so that all institutions, including universities, are now required to commit and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

"On behalf of the Bogor Regency Government, I congratulate the launch of the Umbara Smart and Green Energy Campus, of course this is an extraordinary thing and really needs to be appreciated, that Umbara is building an environmentally friendly and sustainable educational ecosystem," he said.

According to Asmawa, energy efficiency, conservation and improvement of environmental quality, supported by a sophisticated digital automation system in collaboration with PT. PLN Icon Plus, indicates that Umbara is ready to transform and enter the Green and Sustainable Smart Campus network to later develop into a world-class university.

"By implementing the Smart and Green concept, it means that the university is not just teaching about the impacts of global warming and climate change, but concretely showing how to overcome these challenges," he said.

Asmawa continued, it is hoped that Umbara will not only produce graduates who are scientifically competent and competitive but will also produce future generations who are environmentally aware and insightful.

"The Bogor Regency Government really welcomes all forms of synergy and collaboration with Umbara and all Muhammadiyah institutions, because development is not only the responsibility of the government, but also all elements of the nation, including universities, the business world and all components of civil society," he said.

Deputy Chancellor I Umbara Syaiful Rahim explained that global warming is an issue that we must solve together, Umbara is at the forefront of starting this, through the Smart and Green Energy Campus concept.

“Umbara is the first campus in Indonesia to run the Smart and Green Energy Campus program. "As a commitment to realizing an environmentally friendly and sustainable education ecosystem," he said.

Syaiful said that today's activity was a collaborative activity between the Bogor Regency Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership and Bogor Raya Muhammadiyah University, the Bogor Regency Regional Government (Pemdakab), and PT. PLN Icon Plus.

"Umbara is also synergizing with the Bogor Regency Government in poverty alleviation programs, with a focus on developing applications for monitoring stunting cases in Bogor Regency," he said.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Bogor Regency, Ahmad Yani, explained that apart from launching the Smart and Green Energy Campus program, this is also a halalbihalal momentum for Muhammadiyah residents of Bogor Regency.

"When the presidential election matters are resolved, the legislative election matters are resolved, let's re-establish friendship between us. "The differences in political choices that occurred yesterday have become the past that we must bury deeply," he said.

He added that today's momentum is very appropriate to build brotherhood and unity, which are contained in the halalbihalal frame. We are united to create great work for Muhammadiyah Bogor Regency.

Also present were the Bogor Regency Aisyiyah Branch Leader (PCA), Head of the Education Service, Head of the Prokopim Section, Head of Leuwiliang District, Village Heads throughout Leuwiliang District, students, lecturers and school principals.
