PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Waste, if managed properly, can be a valuable resource for the community. Amid concerns about waste, Bandung City has adopted various innovative methods to manage waste, both organic and inorganic.
From the use of Biodigister to maggotization techniques, these various methods not only help reduce the volume of waste, but also provide environmental and economic benefits.
Various innovative methods have been implemented by Bandung City residents in managing organic waste, especially in the RW 07 Sarijadi area, which carries out 10 management activities, namely:
1. Biodigester
A device that converts organic waste into biogas (methane gas) through a fermentation process without oxygen. This gas can be used as energy, such as for cooking.
2. Biopores
Small holes in the ground that function to absorb rainwater and accelerate the decomposition of organic waste that is put into it. In addition, biopores also help improve soil fertility.
3. The Toad
A simple composting method uses a basket filled with kitchen waste. The waste will be broken down into nutrient-rich compost for plants.
4. Translucent Brick
Organic waste management technique by placing it in a special room that allows air to enter, so that the decomposition process occurs more quickly.
5. Loseda (Lodong Sesa Kitchen)
A hole dug in the ground to place organic waste so it can decompose into compost naturally.
6. Wasima (Food Waste Container)
A container used to collect food waste, which is then processed into compost or animal feed.
7. Composter
A tool or container designed to process organic waste into compost with a closed system, minimizing odor and speeding up the decomposition process.
8. Maggotization
The process of decomposing organic waste using Black Soldier Fly larvae (maggots), which is very effective and fast in reducing waste volume.
9. Ecoenzyme
Liquid produced from the fermentation of organic waste such as fruit and vegetable peels. Ecoenzymes can be used as natural and environmentally friendly cleaners.
10. Open Windrow
The open composting method is a method where organic waste is piled up in the open air and left to decompose naturally with the help of microorganisms.
All of these methods provide solutions for people who want to be involved in waste management independently, effectively, and sustainably. By getting involved in this effort, we not only help maintain environmental cleanliness, but also contribute to the welfare of society through waste reduction.
Now, waste management is no longer just the government's responsibility, but our shared task. Various methods such as Biodigister, Biopori, Takakura, to maggotization are ready to be applied by the community to process organic waste into something useful.
Let's take part in this movement! With small steps that we do at home, we can help create a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally friendly Bandung City. Together, we realize a greener future through smart waste management. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service)
