102 Residents Displaced After Earthquake in Sukabumi Regency

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A total of 102 residents of Bogor Regency who were affected by the M4.6 earthquake which was centered in Sukabumi Regency, West Java on Thursday (14/12/2023), chose to evacuate to safer places. These included evacuating to tents provided by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency in Purasari Village and Purwabakti Village as well as to the homes of other relatives.

The BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) reported that on Friday (15/12/2023) at 10.25 WIB, it was recorded that 285 families / 956 residents of Bogor Regency were affected by the earthquake. A temporary rapid assessment stated that there was infrastructure damage in the Bogor Regency area with details of 2 houses being heavily damaged, 32 houses being moderately damaged, 237 houses being slightly damaged and 6 prayer rooms being damaged.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that the earthquake that occurred some time ago also affected 256 families / 829 residents of Sukabumi Regency.

"Damage to infrastructure and public facilities was also reported in the area, such as 3 housing units being heavily damaged, 30 housing units being moderately damaged, 151 housing units being lightly damaged, 2 public facilities and a road that was cracked at 2 points," he said.

BPBD and joint teams in the two affected locations are still continuing to carry out disaster management, such as setting up refugee tents, providing basic necessities, providing building materials and setting up public kitchens to meet the needs of the affected communities.
