PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Around 127,000 residents from various elements of Bandung City simultaneously held a simultaneous cleaning activity or known as "Bebersih Bandung" to commemorate the 214th Anniversary of Bandung City (HJKB), Tuesday (17/9/2024).

The cleaning started at 07.30 WIB, involving residents and communities at various levels, namely the city, sub-district, and RW levels. At the city level, activities were centered in the Bandung Square area and its surroundings.

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono said, this activity is a form of gratitude and concern of Bandung City residents to create a clean and comfortable environment.

"This is our concern, we want Bandung to always be a comfortable place for us to live and visit. Bandung's locomotive is tourism. Therefore, this is a historical milestone for us to care more about the city," said Bambang on the sidelines of Bebersih Bandung on Jalan Soekarno.

According to Bambang, this activity is carried out massively throughout the city of Bandung. He said that Bebersih Bandung is also an effort by the Bandung City Government to prevent flooding, especially ahead of the rainy season.

"This is a momentum for all of us to commit that we really care about the environment in the city of Bandung," he said.

According to him, the 214th Anniversary of the City of Bandung must be a spirit of mutual cooperation and collaboration among the citizens of the city of Bandung.

"Therefore, let us remind each other among us to care more. This is a manifestation and a historical milestone for all of us to care more about the city of Bandung," he said.

For information, the city-level Bebersih Bandung covers Jalan Dalem Kaum, Jalan Palestina, Jalan Asia Afrika, Jalan Otista, and Jalan Sudirman. Participants consisting of the Mayor of Bandung, Forkopimda, Sekda, Head of OPD, ASN, and various communities and community organizations are ready to work together to clean the roads, sidewalks, drainage, and paint vandalism and clean up piles of wild garbage.

Similar activities were also carried out in all sub-districts in Bandung City. Each sub-district determined one location to be cleaned. The participants consisted of OPD Heads, ASN, Sub-district Heads, Forkopimcam, Lurah, and various local organizations who together cleaned roads, sidewalks, drainages, and piles of wild garbage.

At the RW level, the cleaning activity involves all RW in Bandung City. Each RW determines one location, including RW administrators, RT administrators, DKM, Posyandu, Karang Taruna RW, and local residents who focus on cleaning their surroundings.

In addition to enlivening HKJB, this event aims to invite residents to maintain environmental cleanliness with a spirit of mutual cooperation, making Bandung cleaner, more beautiful, and more comfortable for all. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
