PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) built 18 priority houses that were previously uninhabitable (rutilahu) through the Poe Ibu (Sapoe Sarebu) program in Girimukti Village, Cikelet District, Garut Regency through the Poe Ibu, Sapoe Sarebu program.

The program gathers the concern and participation of all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the West Java Provincial Government to help people in need. This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Java, Herman Suryatman when leading the West Java Provincial Government ASN Roll Call in Girimukti Village, Garut Regency, Tuesday (8/9/2026).

The Regional Secretary stated that the 18 priority houses were built through contributions from each Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) that collected funds from the Poe Ibu program. The funds collected were then dedicated to helping the community, particularly in improving the quality of their homes and living environments.

"The Poe Ibu program is a form of shared concern. The proceeds collected are then dedicated to helping those in need," he said.

One of the uninhabitable houses built through the program is Mrs. Dede's house, built through contributions from the West Java Education Office's extended family. The Poe Ibu program raised Rp 45 million for the construction of the house, located in Sukamaju Hamlet, RT 2/RW 3, Girimukti Village. The house is built with traditional touches, featuring a stilt house concept and natural materials.

Priority housing development focuses not only on physical improvements to the home but also on health and sanitation. Therefore, homes are equipped with bathing, laundry, and toilet facilities (MCK), as well as septic tanks, ensuring a healthier and more livable living environment.

The Regional Secretary emphasized that the government does not want the housing improvement program to stop at just physical construction. Improving the quality of life for the community must be comprehensive, particularly in the areas of health, housing, and settlements.
He will also encourage the involvement of the West Java Scout Movement in supporting community housing improvements. As Head of the West Java Scout Regional Office, Scouts are expected to contribute to strengthening this social movement, particularly in the provision of sanitation facilities.

In addition to the Poe Ibu program, the West Java Provincial Government also continues to strengthen synergy with the central government through the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP).
This year, West Java received a large allocation of Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) to support improving the quality of people's homes.

The Regional Secretary hopes that synergy between the government, OPD, Scouts, village governments, and the community can accelerate the handling of uninhabitable houses in West Java.

He said the government can provide stimulus, but the program's sustainability depends heavily on community participation. Therefore, residents are also encouraged to utilize the potential of their surrounding environment to improve food security and family economics. This includes utilizing their yards and developing Sentul chicken farms.

"The government is providing incentives, but the key lies in the community. To ensure a prosperous and prosperous society, every household is expected to utilize their yard and develop its potential," he said.

The Regional Secretary hopes that the program will be part of a joint effort to improve the quality of life of the people of West Java, while ensuring that fewer residents live in homes that are uninhabitable.

West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi and West Java Education Office Head, Purwanto were also present to inspect several priority houses that had been built in the area.
