PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya handed over savings books for the 2026 Ciamis Regency Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) to beneficiaries. The event took place at the Ciamis Regional Secretariat Hall on Friday (August 21, 2026).

A total of 201 beneficiaries from five sub-districts received the first phase of the BSPS through Bank BJB Ciamis. Each recipient received Rp 20 million in assistance, which was allocated to improve the quality of uninhabitable homes.

Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya expressed his joy that the assistance he had been working so hard for was finally being provided to the community. He stated that the program was a crucial part of the government's efforts to help residents access more decent housing.

However, Herdiat stated that the number of aid recipients this year is still far from the number of people included in the proposal data. Of the approximately 6,350 proposals recorded, 561 recipients received assistance this year.

"Of our submitted applications, 6,350 have been received. This year, we've received a total of 561 grants, or about 8 or 9 percent of the total," Herdiat said.

He emphasized that the Ciamis Regency Government will continue to fight to ensure that all residents included in the proposed data receive assistance in stages. To achieve this, support from various parties is needed, including government officials at the sub-district and village levels.

"I will continue to fight for this. Hopefully, it can all be realized, with the support of all parties," he said.

Herdiat advised beneficiaries to use the aid they receive optimally and in accordance with the provisions. He believes that proper utilization of the first phase of aid will be a crucial factor in supporting the sustainability of assistance in subsequent phases.

"If this first phase of assistance is utilized properly, it will make the next phase easier," he said.

According to Herdiat, the BSPS is essentially a government incentive program aimed at encouraging community participation. Therefore, the program's implementation is expected to continue to prioritize the spirit of mutual cooperation and community self-reliance in the home improvement process.

Herdiat stated that the uninhabitable housing program, or rutilahu, is one of the Ciamis Regency Government's priority programs. He even admitted to frequently going directly to the field to ensure that aid is actually received by those in need and is being used as intended.

"Rutilahu is our priority program. I usually go door to door, delivering the items directly. This is crucial to ensure that aid actually reaches and can be effectively implemented," he explained.

Amidst the Ciamis Regency Regional Budget deficit, Herdiat expressed pride in the community's spirit of mutual cooperation. He believes this togetherness is a crucial force in helping the government realize development and improve community welfare.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Ciamis DPRKPLH Service stated that the BSPS, which has now changed its name to the "House Renovation" program in accordance with Government Regulation Number 6 of 2026, is one of the government's strategic efforts to reduce the number of uninhabitable houses while improving the quality of housing for low-income communities.

He explained that assistance is provided in stages to people who have met the requirements according to the provisions and through administrative and field verification processes.

The government hopes that sub-district heads and village heads will also mobilize the community to work together, so that the house renovation program can run optimally and reach more residents in need.
