PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government has revitalized 22 hectares of tea plantations in Ciater, Subang Regency, and Pangalengan, Bandung Regency. This initiative aims to restore the tea plantations, which had previously been converted into illegal buildings (Ciater) and vegetable plantations (Pangalengan).

By revitalizing tea plantations, natural disasters can be prevented and the area can be created with aesthetics.

The Head of the West Java Plantation Service, Gandjar Yudniarsa, detailed that the revitalization of the tea plantation in Ciater, Subang Regency, is being carried out in three locations: Ciater Village, Cisaat Village, and Tambakan Village. To date, the revitalized tea plantation in Ciater Village covers 2 hectares. The Plantation Service has planted 15,200 trees at the site.

Meanwhile, in Cisaat Village, revitalization involved planting 25,000 trees on a 3-hectare tea plantation. In Tambakan Village, the revitalized tea plantation covered 1 hectare and planted 10,000 trees.

The total area of revitalized tea plantations in Ciater Village, Cisaat Village, and Tambakan Village reached 6 hectares, with 50,200 tea trees planted.

"The revitalized tea plantation in Pangalengan is even larger, covering 16 hectares. A total of 198,000 tea trees have been planted," said Gandjar on Sunday (August 30, 2026).

As planned by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, the revitalization of the tea plantations in Ciater and Pangalengan will involve local residents. Retired PTPN employees are also participating in the program. A total of 96 people are involved in the revitalization.

Gandjar stated that tea plantation revitalization will continue until the target of 12 hectares in Ciater, Subang Regency, and 24 hectares in Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, is reached. The first tea planting in Ciater, Subang, began in November 2025, while in Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, it began in December 2025.
