PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Sukabumi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has begun activating evacuation posts for residents of Batuhilir Village in Sekarwangi Village, Cibadak District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, Thursday (25/1/2025), following the potential for land subsequent landslides in the area.

Previously, a landslide occurred in a residential area in Kampung Batuhilir RT 01 RW 11, on Wednesday (24/1/2024), at 06.30 WIB. Data collected by the BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops), the landslide caused 15 heads of families (KK) or 51 people to be affected, with 12 housing units experiencing serious damage.

Sukabumi Regency BPBD Secretary Yudistira explained, based on the results of temporary observations by the joint team at the location, the landslide that occurred was caused by extreme weather and the accumulation of water sediment in the area.

"Further landslides still have the potential to occur, this has forced BPBD to evacuate 75 other families who are threatened with moving to refugee camps starting today," said Yudistira, Thursday (25/1/2024).

"For residents whose houses were damaged, it was recorded that 12 houses were still affected. However, 62 houses or 75 families or 239 people were threatened by subsequent landslides, so starting today we will move to the evacuation tents that have been prepared by BPBD. It should have been yesterday, but because we are still traumatized "They stay overnight around the existing prayer room," he added.

Apart from the refugee tents, according to Yudistira, apart from the refugee tents, BPBD Sukabumi Regency has created a public kitchen to meet the food needs of the residents.

"Today we have also prepared two public kitchens on standby to distribute food and another public kitchen from the social service," he said.

Yudistria explained that apart from evacuating residents and activating refugee camps, currently the joint team is starting to clean the drainage which was blocked by landslide material and monitoring ground movements to prevent further landslides from occurring.

"If there is ground movement, we can stop it so there is a monitoring team and someone is cleaning (material). We have also coordinated with the PVMBG (Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation) to conduct a study of the location of the landslide incident in the Batuhilir area to find out whether the area "This is entering a safe or dangerous zone and what kind of follow-up, because previously there were no landslides like this," explained Yudistira.
