PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi together with Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni planted 50,000 seedlings to green the Puncak area, Bogor, covering an area of 200-300 hectares.

According to Dedi, tree planting has been the forerunner of West Java residents since long ago. Therefore, he said the purpose of planting trees in the Ciliwung River Basin (DAS) is to maintain the ecosystem and environmental sustainability in the mountainous region that has experienced many changes in function.

"Planting trees is a basic obligation for the citizens of the earth, including the citizens of West Java because the citizens of West Java are adherents of the tree ideology teachings. Trees are the source of life. The Sundanese say, "mountains must be awian, lengkob must be Balongan, lebak must be sawahan". The point is that the entire ecosystem area must be protected," said Dedi Mulyadi when met in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency, Saturday (3/22/2025).

Governor Dedi Mulyadi also said that the tree planting movement was carried out as a form of ecological repentance in maintaining an environmental ecosystem so that it remains beautiful.

"Actually, we are reminding people to repent ecologically, meaning that today's repentance reminds us to dare to take big actions (planting trees to) open the pores of the soil from various concrete buildings. This is part of a series of policies that continue to be implemented," added the Governor who is familiarly called KDM (Kang Dedi Mulyadi).

Meanwhile, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni emphasized that tree planting in the Puncak area, Bogor, is expected to not only be carried out when natural disasters occur.

However, all parties must be consistent in planting trees as an effort to re-green the Puncak area.

"God willing, we will continue to reforest, we all hope that consistency is maintained so that it is not just hot chicken droppings, busy (planting trees) when there is a disaster (only). Later, we must be consistent together to reforest (the Puncak Bogor area)," said Raja Juli Antoni.
