PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A number of hotel managers reported that Google Business accounts were hacked at several hotels in Indonesia, including Bandung City, making them vulnerable to being misused for fraud and the like.

Chairman of Riung Priangan and Chairman of the Bandung City Tourism Promotion Council Arief Bonafianto said that currently there are around 45 hotels in Bandung City that have reported the hacking.

"As of today (Monday, August 12, 2024), it has just been confirmed and reported in 45 hotels. This is not only in Bandung City, it is happening throughout Indonesia," he said when confirmed, Monday (12/8/2024)

For this reason, he appealed to the public to be careful and seek valid information related to hotel services through the hotel's social media.

"Each hotel already has a description that makes a disclaimer that includes the official hotel number, so outside of that number it is not the hotel's responsibility," he said.

"In order to avoid greater losses, all parties are asked to be careful and confirm with the hotel management with the correct information service," he said.

Arief said that until now there have been no reports of fraud experienced by the public related to this cyber incident.

"Thank God, until now there have been no reports of fraud involving hotel consumers," he said.

As a follow-up, PHRI Center will immediately report to the authorities, in this case to the National Police.
