PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) sent 34 of its best delegates to participate in the World Skills Competition (WSC) 2024, which will take place on 5-11 September 2024.
The 34 delegates consisted of 15 competitors , 11 experts , one technical delegate , two technical delegate assistants , one official delegate , and four member observers .
One of the participants from West Java, won a gold medal, namely Favian Ahza Putra Sobar for the IT Network System Administration field.
Favian is an alumnus of State Vocational School 1, Cimahi City, West Java, and is also a student at the Indonesian Computer University (Unikom).
At the 2024 WSC, Indonesia won five medals at the prestigious event which took place in Lyon, France.
Overall, the WSC 2024 team from Indonesia won two gold medals and one silver medal. In addition, the Indonesian team also won two Medals for Excellence in several categories.
Apart from Favian, Indonesia's gold medal was also won by the pair Cahyo Dwi Prayogo and Mohamad As'ari who competed in the field of Rail Vehicle Technology.
Cahyo Dwi is an alumnus of SMKN 8 Jember, East Java, who is currently working at PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). Meanwhile, Mohamad As'ari is an alumnus of SMKN 2 Sragen, Central Java, who is also working at PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI).
The silver medal was won by an alumnus of SMKN 1 Cimahi named Fikhi Akmal. He is currently registered as a student at Bandung State Polytechnic. Fikri won a silver medal for the competency competition in the field of electronics.
Meanwhile, the Medal for Excellence was won by Reho Kurnia, an alumnus of SMK Tunas Harapan Pati, Central Java, who has had a career at PT Denso Indonesia. Reho won the Medal for Excellence in the field of Industrial Control.
Regarding the achievements of vocational personnel at the 2024 WSC event, Acting Director General of Vocational Education Tatang Muttaqin expressed his greatest appreciation to the winners and all parties who have contributed to preparing the Indonesian delegation.
"Alhamdulillah, this competition is a symbol of the importance of technical skills in building a better future, while also reflecting our commitment to continue to improve the competence of Indonesia's young generation. The success of winning a medal also feels more special with the blessing of the Prophet's Birthday," said Tatang as reported by Kemendikbud.go.id .
According to him, the World Skills Competition is not just a competition. It is a world stage that unites talented young people from all over the world, and connects business, industry, education and government in the spirit of promoting vocational skills.
In this competition, Indonesia participated in 11 vocational competition fields with 11 experts, 15 competitors, and accompanied by technical delegates, technical delegates assistants, official delegates, and member observers from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
For the field of Rail Vehicle Technology, Indonesia is fully supported by PT Kereta Api Indonesia.
