PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja, along with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), attended a cross-sectoral coordination meeting in preparation for Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026, held at the Promoter Building of the Bekasi Metro Police, Tuesday (10/3/2026). The event was attended by members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and various regional apparatuses to ensure security readiness for the Eid homecoming and return flow.
Asep Surya Atmaja emphasized the importance of synergy between all parties in maintaining security and smooth flow of homecoming traffic, considering that Bekasi Regency is a buffer zone for the capital city and the largest industrial area in Southeast Asia.
According to him, the Bekasi Regency area is a strategic route for homecoming travelers because it is crossed by the national road and the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
"Bekasi Regency is a buffer zone for the capital and the largest industrial area in Southeast Asia, home to around 7,800 companies. This region also serves as a major homecoming route, as it is crossed by national roads and the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. Therefore, cross-sector coordination is necessary to ensure orderly, safe, and conducive conditions," said Asep.
He also mentioned that Bekasi Regency has a population of around 3.4 million, the majority of whom are migrants. This situation causes many residential areas to be abandoned during the homecoming season, necessitating increased environmental security.
Asep emphasized that the Bekasi Regency Government is committed to fully supporting the implementation of Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 through the involvement of various regional agencies.
"The Bekasi Regency Government is committed to providing support for the implementation of this operation through the involvement of various regional agencies, from the Transportation Agency for traffic management to securing strategic routes," he said.
In addition to traffic management, he also requested that several regional agencies take other precautionary measures. The Water Resources Agency was asked to repair potholes, while the Health Agency prepared emergency medical services and medicines along the homecoming routes.
"Emergency medication must be fully stocked, including initial treatment for accident victims on main routes. Competent medical personnel must also be available at service points," he stressed.
He also asked the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to increase enforcement in market areas and busy centers to avoid disrupting traffic flow, especially at points frequently used by travelers.
On the other hand, the Bekasi Regency Government will also anticipate potential disasters and ensure the stability of staple food prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
"Solid synergy and collaboration between the National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), local governments, and all stakeholders are key to creating a safe and conducive environment during the homecoming and return travel periods," he emphasized.
Operation Ketupat 2026 itself is planned to take place from mid-March to the end of March 2026 as a national security effort during the homecoming period and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, emphasized that the operation was a humanitarian operation that required support and coordination from all stakeholders.
According to him, Operation Ketupat Jaya, which is held annually, aims to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic during the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr celebrations for the community.
"Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026, like previous years, is a humanitarian operation that requires coordination and solidarity from all relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth and successful security of Eid al-Fitr and the flow of people returning home," he said.
He hopes that this year's operation will run safely and smoothly in accordance with the theme, namely "Safe Homecoming, Happy Family."
The Police Chief also stated that several potential vulnerabilities need to be anticipated, including the availability and price of fuel ahead of the homecoming season. This is considered crucial because increased public mobility during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period has the potential to increase fuel consumption.
"This situation certainly requires significant security from all parties to ensure Bekasi Regency remains safe and secure," he said. (Bekasi Regency Communications and Information Office/rka)
