PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - As an effort to anticipate the rainy season, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has made 736 elementary and middle school buildings as reserve voting places (TPS).

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, said that there are several TPS located in potential flood areas. So it is necessary to try to find a backup TPS if a flood occurs at any time.

If there is a potential for disaster, especially flooding, immediately take anticipatory steps. "We have assigned the Education Department (Disdik) to make several schools reserve TPS," he said.

The Head of the Bandung City Education Department, Hikmat Ginanjar, said that he had listed a number of schools to be used as TPS when unexpected things happened.

"As of Monday, February 12 2024, the Education Department listed several schools that were used as TPS. There were 179 public elementary schools whose facilities and infrastructure were lent and 532 public elementary schools that were used as TPS. Then there were 34 private elementary schools whose facilities were lent, and 67 private elementary schools that were used as TPS," he said. .

So in total there were 213 elementary schools whose facilities were lent and 599 elementary schools were used as TPS. Some of the facilities loaned to support election activities include classrooms, fields, tables, chairs, parking lots and whiteboards.

Then, he continued, for state junior high schools, there were 29 schools whose facilities and infrastructure were lent and 93 state junior high schools were used as TPS.

"Meanwhile, there are 15 private junior high schools whose facilities are on loan and 44 private junior high schools are used as TPS. "So in total there are 44 junior high schools whose facilities were lent and 137 were used as TPS," he added.

The junior high school facilities on loan include classrooms, fields, tables, chairs, parking lots and blackboards. Then added a canteen, gym and sound reinforcement.

"In total, there are 257 elementary and junior high schools whose facilities are used. "And there are 736 schools that have been used as TPS," he said.

He also appealed to regional officials and KPPS heads to be punctual in using school facilities. Because vote counting usually takes a long time and takes several stages. Meanwhile, the next day the school was used again by students.

"Usually at the latest it can arrive at 02.00 WIB. However, we are reminding you, because the children have to go to school the next day. Please finish on time," he said.

He added, if it turns out that the election process runs outside the specified time, then teaching and learning activities will continue. However, with some adjustments.

"But we still ask that it can be completed on time and that all the infrastructure can be tidied up again," he added. (rdp*)
