PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting. The Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono reminded regional officials together with the General Election Commission (KPU) to anticipate the potential for heavy rain on voting day and to map polling places (TPS) that are prone to disasters, such as floods and landslides.

This is done so that the election on February 14 2024 runs smoothly. For this reason, he said that various alternative polling places (TPS) could be used, such as school buildings or permitted regional property.

"The TPS and KPU committees can try to find alternatives, one of which is using schools, both elementary and middle schools. However, if the situation doesn't allow it conventionally, we will shift it," said Bambang (24/1/2024).

Bambang said that based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), rainfall in Bandung City will still be quite high for the next month.

"So in this weather we get information from BMKG that for the next month the rainfall will still be quite high," he said.

He said that the KPU and Bandung City Government were mapping polling stations that were prone to disasters.

"In the east, west, in the city center, this is our focus and we can identify it. We have anticipated it," he said.

Previously, the Chairperson of the Bandung City KPU, Wenti Frihadianti, said that they had coordinated regarding the location of the TPS so that a place was chosen that was affordable and easily accessible, especially for voters with disabilities and free from potential disasters.

He will also coordinate with the Bandung City Government regarding the potential for heavy rain on voting day.

"Weather issues have also been coordinated. We have also anticipated as much as possible so that people can exercise their right to vote even in the rainy season," he said.

"Logistics is now at the checking stage. There are damaged ballot papers, but we have reported them and there are not too many. We are trying to get the logistics distribution done in early February," he added.
