PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin inaugurated Asep Sukmama as Acting Mayor of Tasikmalaya at the Pakuan Building, Bandung City, Thursday (11/28/2024).
Asep Sukmana, who currently serves as Head of the West Java Youth and Sports Service, replaces the previous Acting Mayor, Cheka Virgowansyah.
While carrying out his duties as Acting Mayor, Asep continued to hold the position of Highest Pratama Leader at the West Java Youth and Sports Service.
"Tasimalaya City is not something new because Mr. Asep was once the Plh (Mayor of Tasimalaya) for a month, I think he is already familiar with this city," said Bey.
Bey advised Asep to continue the priority programs that have been running well, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation, improving the quality of education, and environmental management.
"I think we just have to continue what has been done, especially I remind you again about the threat of rain, hydrometeorological disasters, so be careful," he said.
"I ask Mr. Asep to pay attention to this matter," Bey continued.
He invited all parties to fully support the new Acting Mayor to realize the hopes of the people of Tasikmalaya City for a better life.
"We invite everyone to support the new Acting Mayor and maintain what Mr. Cheka has implemented as the previous Acting Mayor," said Bey.
In addition, Bey expressed his gratitude to Cheka Virgowansyah who had done a lot of good work and innovation for the City of Tasikmalaya.
During his tenure, Cheka succeeded in significantly reducing stunting rates, as well as the success of Tasimalaya City in becoming 100 percent Open Defecation Free (ODF), free from the practice of open defecation.
In addition, the consistent decline in poverty even recorded the highest delta decline in West Java in 2023.
"I would like to thank Mr. Cheka Virgowansyah, of course the people of Tasikmalaya City will miss him because of the many things he has done," he said.
"We are also grateful for the many innovations that have been given to Tasikmalaya City. Because of our duties, we sincerely release Mr. Cheka to continue his next duties," said Bey.
