PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - The Ciamis Regency Government has once again achieved impressive achievements at the regional and national levels. This time, the Ciamis Regency Government successfully won the 3rd Best Regency award in the "2026 Batch Two Regional Government Achievement Award" for the Java-Bali region.

The award was presented directly to the Regent of Ciamis, Herdiat Sunarya, by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, at the awards ceremony held in Bali on Friday (28/8/2026) evening.

Ciamis Regency Government competed closely with various other regions and succeeded in excelling in the Waste Management and Beautiful Environment categories.

This category specifically assesses the commitment and concrete performance of local governments in creating integrated, healthy, and sustainable waste management. Regional innovations that present creative and collaborative environmental solutions are one of the main criteria for the jury's assessment.

In his remarks, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian provided firm direction regarding the importance of cleanliness and waste management issues, which are currently still a problem in many areas, both on land and at sea.

"The most important method is how we reduce waste reaching landfills, namely the upstream approach, which is carried out at homes. Many regions are doing this. Others are downstream, processing it into electricity or briquettes," the Minister of Home Affairs emphasized.

Tito also encouraged regional heads to not hesitate to create strict regulations and foster a culture of mutual cooperation in cleaning the environment. He cited the example of cleanliness movements that could begin at government levels, sub-districts, villages, and even markets.

"This is actually a movement. For example, after roll call, whether on Friday or Monday, we should do some cleanup in our respective neighborhoods. If this is mandated to all levels, from the department, sub-district, to the village, to regularly clean up, over time it will become a habit and culture that will trigger significant change," Tito emphasized to the regional heads present.

The Minister of Home Affairs' directive appears to align closely with concrete steps that have long been ingrained and cultivated in the Tatar Galuh community of Ciamis Regency. Ciamis Regency's success in achieving this top ranking is inextricably linked to the Regency Government's consistent, weekly cleanup activities, or korve.

The weekly corvee movement in Ciamis has not only become a routine for the ranks of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the office environment, but has also expanded and mobilized the participation of sub-districts, village governments, and residents in residential areas and public facilities.

Meanwhile, Tempo Media Group President Director Arif Zulkifli stated that the event, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Tempo, is not merely a ceremony. The award recognizes the hard work of local governments, which are often the first to address and find solutions to everyday problems faced by residents.

"Numbers and awards are just the end result, and we often overlook them. Behind them lies a long process: how local governments analyze problems, make decisions, and ensure that policies truly benefit the public," said Ario.

In addition to the environmental category, the Batch Two event also provided awards for three other crucial categories: Implementation of the 3 Million Homes Program, Access and Quality of Health Services, and Public Access to Education Services.

For Ciamis Regency, this achievement is concrete evidence that the synergy between the local government and all elements of the Tatar Galuh community in maintaining environmental sustainability and cleanliness has yielded widely recognized results. This achievement is expected to fuel enthusiasm for continuing to provide innovation and the best services for Ciamis residents in the future.
