PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government is accelerating the development of the Waste to Electricity Processing (PSEL) project to address the waste generation of 1,300 tons per day through the appointment of Everbright Harmony as a strategic partner (22/7/2026).
The partner was determined by Danantara Investment Management after the Bekasi Regency Government prepared the land, development budget, and supporting infrastructure for the facility's construction.
Bekasi Acting Regent Asep Surya Atmaja said the regional government had been preparing the main requirements for the PSEL development for almost a year.
"We have prepared all the main requirements for the PSEL development, starting from providing five hectares of land, which is now a regional government asset, to a budget of Rp 16.5 billion for the land preparation process. We are also prioritizing widening the access road and building a bridge to the PSEL site to ensure all project requirements are met and construction proceeds on target," said Asep.
He explained that PSEL is not only a waste processing facility, but also a long-term solution that provides a modern and environmentally friendly waste management system.
"This isn't just about building a waste processing facility, but also about building a more modern, environmentally friendly, and sustainable waste management system. Therefore, all preparatory stages must be carried out thoroughly to ensure the project runs smoothly and provides optimal benefits to the people of Bekasi Regency," he said.
In the initial operational phase, PSEL is targeted to be able to process around 1,000 tons of waste per day before being increased according to the readiness of the transportation and operational systems.
The construction of these facilities is a crucial need because Bekasi Regency has around 3.4 million residents and thousands of companies with continuously increasing waste volumes.
Danantara Investment Management Investment Director Fadli Rahman said Everbright Harmony was appointed as the development partner for the Bekasi Regency PSEL after the selection process was completed.
"We have reported to the Acting Regent of Bekasi that the partner selection process has been completed and Everbright Harmony has been selected as the development partner for the Bekasi Regency PSEL. This year, we are targeting completion of the design phase, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony by the end of 2026 or no later than January 2027. The construction process is estimated to take around two years, so this facility is expected to be operational by 2029," said Fadli.
He appreciated the Bekasi Regency Government's readiness in providing land and supporting infrastructure so that the project runs according to target.
"We see a strong commitment from the Bekasi Regency Government in preparing all project requirements, from land preparation to supporting infrastructure. With ongoing synergy, we are optimistic that the PSEL construction will proceed on target, ensuring the facility's immediate operation and becoming a modern and sustainable waste management solution for Bekasi Regency," Fadli concluded.
