PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is again preparing a retention pond in the Margahayu Raya Complex area. This retention pond is projected as an effort to prevent potential flooding in the Ciwastra area and also the Margahayu Raya Complex.
Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, said that the process of building a retention pond at the Margahayu Raya Complex is around 70 percent.
He is optimistic that this retention pond will be able to provide benefits to the people of Bandung City.
“The contract is until December 30. "Only if it is inaugurated, it could be at the end of 2023 or early 2024. But what I see is the benefits for the people of Bandung City," said Ema (1/12/2023).
"This can minimize the potential for flooding in the Jalan Ciwastra area. There is an Islamic boarding school there (at this point floods often occur). "Apart from that, it is also of course to minimize the potential for flooding in the Margahayu Raya area," he added.
This retention pond is located in the Margahayu Raya Complex, precisely on Jalan Jupiter Barat. Later there will be 6 pools with a total volume of around 2,339 cubic meters.
Apart from that, in this area there will also be an amphitheater, open space, and will also be a place to exercise, especially for residents around the retention pond.
“People can enjoy it. "There will be an Amphi theater, they can also exercise here, for example walking or running," said Ema.
He hopes that the presence of a retention pond at the Margahayu Raya Complex can minimize the impact of flooding in the Ciwastra, Rancabolang, Margahayu Raya and Derwati areas.
Moreover, in this area, several retention ponds that are not too far from each other have been built.
These include the Bandung Inten Retention Pool and the Rancabolang Retention Pool.
