PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin and Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin opened the Ayo Sehat Festival 2024 at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Saturday (14/9/2024).
This event, initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, is an important momentum to raise public awareness of the importance of health as a foundation for national welfare.
In his speech, Bey Machmudin expressed his appreciation for the selection of Bandung City as the host of the festival.
He emphasized that health is the most valuable investment for a nation, far more than the health facilities themselves.
"Health is the main key to the welfare of the nation and we are proud to see the Posyandu mothers who are present with enthusiasm. They are the front guard who ensure that public health continues to improve," said Bey Machmudin.
In a relaxed yet inspiring style, Bey also emphasizes the importance of exercise and regular health checks.
"The Minister of Health always reminds us that it is better to prevent illness than to rely solely on hospitals. So, let's exercise diligently and routinely check our health at the Community Health Center or Integrated Health Post," he said.
Bey did not forget to include his pride in the West Java contingent who are currently fighting to defend their overall championship title at PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024.
"Sports is part of maintaining health. West Java is leading and hopefully we will achieve a hat-trick of overall champions," he said.
Three simple keys
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin reminded us of the importance of maintaining health.
He outlined three simple keys to healthy living: eating enough, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.
"Stop eating before you're full, exercise 30 minutes a day five times a week, and get enough sleep at least 6 hours. That's the secret to longevity," he said.
Budi further invited the public to routinely measure blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
"Don't forget, all these check-ups can be done at the Community Health Center and they are all free. Health is easy to maintain, as long as we check it regularly," said Budi while emphasizing the importance of maintaining an ideal waistline.
This festival also presents various exhibitions of modern medical equipment, ranging from equipment for pregnant women to the elderly.
Bey also praised the sophistication of the technology demonstrated as well as equal access to health for all age groups.
With Ayo Sehat Festival 2024, it is hoped that the people of West Java will be more concerned about a healthy lifestyle. This is not only about a healthy body, but also a more prosperous future for the nation.
