PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan is accelerating the arrangement of supporting infrastructure ahead of the resumption of operations of Husein Sastranegara Airport by repairing roads, public street lighting, and parking facilities (26/6/2026).

This step was taken to ensure that airport operations run smoothly while providing comfort for the public and flight service users.

Muhammad Farhan said the Bandung City Government continues to coordinate with various parties to expedite the completion of all supporting facilities and infrastructure.

"At Husein Airport, we are currently focusing on preparing infrastructure and supporting facilities, from road repairs and street lighting to parking facilities. We are continuing to coordinate this," he said.

Farhan estimates that the number of passengers in the initial operational phase will reach around 3,000 people per day from July to September 2026.

According to him, this number is still below the airport's maximum capacity so that initial operations can run more optimally.

"We're operating on the assumption that the first phase will see around 3,000 passengers per day. So, the load won't be too heavy, even though Husein Airport was able to serve 10,000 to 12,000 passengers daily during its peak," he said.

Farhan hopes that starting in August 2026, Husein Airport will be able to serve Boeing 737-500, Airbus A320, small aircraft, and private jets.

He believes the reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport will improve connectivity and encourage growth in the transportation, trade, tourism, and investment sectors in Bandung.

"We hope the transportation and warehousing sectors can increase their contribution to Bandung's economic growth. We need new economic drivers to keep the city's economy growing," he explained.

Farhan also expressed his appreciation to the central government, the West Java Provincial Government, the Indonesian Air Force, the Ministry of Transportation, and Angkasa Pura for their support in reactivating Husein Sastranegara Airport.
