PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is striving to make Husein Sastranegara International Airport a showcase for MSME products and a new face for promoting the creative economy. This move is part of a strategy to expand the market for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that the Bandung City Government is currently negotiating to obtain business space at a special rental price in the airport departure area which can later be utilized by MSMEs and the Bandung City Dekranasda.

"We are negotiating to allow Bandung's MSMEs to have space in the departure area. We hope this will make local products more accessible to tourists arriving and departing through Husein," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall on Thursday (August 20, 2026).

In addition to MSME products, the Bandung City Government also plans to present various arts and cultural elements in the airport area.

According to Farhan, the evaluation results show that the airport facilities are well-organized, but the identity of Bandung City still needs to be emphasized more.

"The airport is nice and tidy, but it doesn't yet feel like Bandung. Therefore, there will be art performances, visual art, and various elements that reflect the character of Bandung," he said.

Meanwhile, Bank bjb President Director Ayi Subarna welcomed the plan. He stated that expanding market access is a key factor in enabling MSMEs to grow and scale up.

"It's not enough for MSMEs to just be given capital. They also need broader market access to ensure their businesses continue to grow," said Ayi.

He said that Bank bjb is ready to support the development of MSMEs through financing and sustainable business mentoring programs.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Financial Services Authority (OJK), Darwisman, assessed that the strategy of opening marketing access is an important part of developing the MSME ecosystem.

"Once financing has been provided, market access must also be opened. This is crucial for the growth and sustainability of the funded businesses," he said.

Darwisman also encouraged MSMEs to utilize digital platforms so their products could reach a wider market.

According to him, the combination of access to financing, direct marketing, and digital marketing will be an important asset for MSMEs to compete amidst modern economic developments.
