PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy and fair industrial relations through four basic principles. The four principles are a strong foundation between workers, employers, and the government.
Erwin conveyed this during the commemoration of International Workers' Day (May Day) 2025 at Pantai Indah Resort & Hotel Pangandaran, Thursday (8/5/2025).
The first principle is mutual trust (mutual trust). Without mutual trust, there will be no lasting cooperation. Trust is the beginning of all dialogue and constructive action.
The second principle is mutual understanding. According to Erwin, understanding the position and interests of the other party is the key to avoiding conflict and strengthening solidarity.
The next principle, Erwin continued, is mutual benefit. Erwin said, industrial relations must be based on mutual benefit, not just for one party.
Lastly, a principle that is no less important is mutual respect.
"Without respect, any relationship will be fragile. Government, employers and workers must respect each other's roles," he said.
These four principles, according to Erwin, must be maintained and strengthened so that the employment system in the city of Bandung remains fair, harmonious and sustainable.
In addition, Erwin also invited all elements to continue to prioritize social dialogue, namely open and constructive dialogue involving all stakeholders. This is in order to resolve various employment issues wisely and fairly.
"Workers are not just part of the production process. They are the main subject of development, the backbone of the city, and the guardian of social stability," he said.
Ending his speech, Erwin called for the momentum of May Day 2025 to be used as a foothold to strengthen solidarity and cross-sector cooperation in order to realize Bandung Utama, namely Bandung that is Superior, Open, Trustworthy, Advanced, and Religious.
