PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City has been officially designated as a pilot project for land development with the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept, especially in the Gedebage area.
This project was initiated by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) with the aim of optimizing land use through the development of areas integrated with mass transportation.
Director of Land Consolidation and Land Development of the Ministry of ATR/BPN Mazwar explained that Gedebage was chosen because of its strategic position and the potential of the vast land area that has not been optimally utilized.
"The development of TOD in Gedebage will be an important step in sustainable development in the city of Bandung, especially in the eastern region," said Mazwar during an audience with the Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara at the Bandung City Hall, Monday (14/10/2024)
The TOD concept in Gedebage not only focuses on improving transportation connectivity, but also aims to develop the area in a more productive and environmentally friendly manner.
Mazwar emphasized the importance of collaboration between the central government, local governments, and other stakeholders in realizing the TOD project in Gedebage.
"This collaboration is crucial to ensure that this project runs well and brings maximum benefits to the community," he said.
As part of this development plan, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) also proposed the existence of an Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) that can produce renewable energy, emphasizing the city's commitment to creating a sustainable environment.
"We strongly support this TOD development initiative. This can be an example for the development of other areas in Bandung City in the future," he said.
According to Koswara, this project will encourage economic growth in the East Bandung region and improve the quality of life of the community.
With an area of 77 hectares, Gedebage is projected to become a modern area integrated with public transportation.
This project also supports a significant increase in land values, which is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and environment in the city of Bandung.
The development of Gedebage TOD will be one of the pilot projects of the Ministry of ATR/BPN to maximize land use in Indonesia, as well as support the sustainable development agenda based on transportation.
