PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government together with various stakeholders and the community simultaneously planted 31,000 trees in Bandung Planting Volume 6 with the theme of Sustainable Bandung Conservation which was centered in Kanhay, Cibiru District, and was simultaneously carried out in various other districts in the North Bandung area.

Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara explained, this program aims to overcome critical land damage that has the potential to trigger disasters such as landslides and floods.

He emphasized the importance of the involvement of all parties, including the government, Bandung City DPRD, the private sector, political parties, and the community.

"Critical land is a threat to life. We need to plant perennial plants in these open lands. This is not only the government's task, but the shared responsibility of all components of society to maintain the sustainability of the City of Bandung," said Koswara (11/23/2024).

He hopes that this movement will raise the awareness of prospective leaders of Greater Bandung to have the same commitment to preserving the North Bandung Area (KBU), which has a vital role in the city's ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Acting Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Dharmawan, added that this movement is also a strategic step in facing the challenges of climate change and global warming.

Tree planting is considered an effective solution to reduce the risk of ecological disasters while improving water absorption capacity and controlling erosion.

"Bandung Menanam Volume 6 aims to green water catchment areas, increase carbon absorption capacity, and provide economic benefits and green open spaces for the community. This is a concrete step in facing global environmental challenges," he explained.

For information, planting in the Kanhay area covers an area of 6.9 hectares with 2,130 trees. While 7,850 other trees were planted in other sub-districts simultaneously. The total number of trees planted reached 31,000 seedlings, consisting of 75% perennials and 25% intercrops.

These tree seeds come from a variety of contributions, including:
- Bandung City ASN: 15,975 trees
- CSR and TJSL: 9,591 trees
- Department of Environment: 2,985 trees
- DSDABM: 1,460 trees
- DPKP: 1,000 trees
