PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City will host the ASEAN-India Artists Camp Exhibition which will be held at the Bandung Creative Hub (BCH) on April 10-17, 2025.
The art exhibition is part of the commemoration of a decade of India's Act East Policy and showcases the work of 20 world-class artists from ASEAN countries and India.
The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, expressed his pride in the trust given to the City of Bandung to be the location for this international art exhibition.
"This is an art exhibition that shows that Bandung is one of the most creative cities in Indonesia, capable of accommodating world-class artworks," said Farhan, Thursday, April 10, 2025.
The exhibition is a result of the ASEAN-India Artists' Camp program initiated by the Indian diplomatic mission in ASEAN. Present at the opening ceremony were Indian Ambassador to ASEAN Jayant N. Khobragade, and Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty.
Indian Ambassador to ASEAN Jayant N. Khobragade said that this exhibition is a symbol of the close cultural relations between India and ASEAN countries, especially Indonesia.
He also said that the presence of two Indian ambassadors at one event was a rare occurrence, and this showed the importance of the position of the City of Bandung in regional cooperation.
“Bandung is an important city, and through this exhibition, we want to bring India closer to Indonesia,” said Khobragade.
This event is not only a forum for art appreciation, but also opens up opportunities for broader cultural collaboration between India and the city of Bandung, both through fine arts and other creative industries such as film.
The Bandung City Government also plans to involve the Bandung Film Forum as a local partner in developing the next cultural agenda.
Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, praised the initiative and collaborative spirit of the Mayor of Bandung, including the plan to hold the Bandung Bollywood Film Festival which will be held in the near future.
"We are very enthusiastic about the idea of a Bollywood Film Festival in Bandung. This is a great form of cultural cooperation," said Chakravorty.
