PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Agriculture Service appreciates PT Yutaka Manufacturing Indonesia's assistance in building a premium melon greenhouse for the De Lima Farmers Group in Telajung Village, West Cikarang, Tuesday (10/20/2026).

The Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSLP) produced an initial harvest of around 160 melons with a total weight of more than two quintals.

Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Agriculture Service, Nayu Kulsum, said that horticultural cultivation has the potential to open up business opportunities, create jobs, and increase farmers' income.

"We just had our first harvest of premium melons, and the results were incredibly satisfying. We hope this will benefit the De Lima Farmers Group. We hope this Green House will continue to maintain food security and improve the quality of melon production," he said.

According to Nayu, the growth of industrial and residential areas in Bekasi Regency encourages farmers to innovate so that agriculture remains productive and produces commodities with high economic value.

"We, the Bekasi Regency Agriculture Service, express our appreciation to PT. Yutaka Manufacturing Indonesia for its contribution and concern through its CSR program, which is realized in the form of the construction of a melon greenhouse for the De Lima Farmers Group," said Nayu Kulsum.

The implementation of the greenhouse system is also expected to help farmers optimize land, increase production efficiency, maintain harvest quality, and produce products with higher sales value.

"By utilizing home yards and housing public facilities, we can develop horticultural cultivation of fruit and vegetables. Collaboration through corporate social responsibility (CSR) is essential for the development of the agricultural sector so that it can be sustainable," he concluded.

President Director of PT Yutaka Manufacturing Indonesia Yoshihiro Kimata said the program is part of the company's social responsibility that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We, the company, through our CSR program, are reaching out to the community in the health, education, and entrepreneurship sectors by initiating the construction of a greenhouse for melon cultivation for the De Lima Farmers Group through the Astra Prosperous Village program in Telajung Village," he explained.

Kimata explained that the entrepreneurship program continues the vegetable cultivation activities with local farmer groups that have been running since 2025.

The company also provides gazebos as supporting facilities for farmer group activities to support the sustainability of community agricultural businesses.

"These two cultivation programs aim to promote food security, improve community skills in agricultural cultivation, and create business opportunities and sustainable sources of income for the people of Telajung Village," said Kimata.

The Head of the De Lima Farmers Group in Sejahtera Astra Telajung Village, Bambang Hermawan, explained that the greenhouse cultivates three varieties of melon, namely Golden Humy, Sweet Net, and Sweet Humy, involving 10 local residents.

"Cultivating premium melons takes about 70 days, from sowing to harvest. Each melon weighs between one and two kilograms. The first harvest of the three varieties yielded about 160 melons, weighing more than two quintals," he said.

Bambang hopes that the first harvest will be the first step for the farmer group to develop independent agricultural businesses, improve skills, and expand income opportunities for residents.

"We, the De Lima Farmers Group, would like to thank PT. Yutaka Manufacturing Indonesia for the support provided through the CSR program. We hope that this program assistance can provide benefits to local residents and encourage the independence of farmer groups, as well as support the government's program in strengthening food security," said Bambang.
