PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG REGENCY - Floods have hit South Bandung, affecting hundreds of homes and cutting off several roads. The flooding occurred in three sub-districts in Bandung Regency: Dayeuhkolot, Baleendah, and Bojongsoang. In Dayeuhkolot sub-district, water levels reportedly reached 30 to 50 centimeters, forcing some residents to evacuate to safer areas.
"We can't do much other than regulate traffic to prevent congestion," said an officer from the Dayeuhkolot Police, Bripda Zaini, Monday (13/4/2026).
Floodwaters also inundated Jalan Raya Dayeuhkolot, with water levels reaching approximately 40 centimeters, making it impossible for vehicles to pass, causing traffic jams. Drivers were diverted to the Bojongsoang route.
Similar conditions are also occurring on the Bojongsoang route, particularly in the Cikarees area, which connects Bandung Regency and Bandung City. However, water levels in the area still allow vehicles to pass.
The flooding began last Friday after three consecutive days of heavy rain inundated the area. The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Bandung Regency BPBD continue to coordinate with the affected residents.
Dayeuhkolot Sub-district Head, Asep Suryadi, explained that hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate to safer locations. The sub-district continues to coordinate with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) regarding evacuees' handling.
"We are on standby and continue to coordinate, especially regarding the handling of refugees," he said.
Meanwhile, when confirmation was made at the Bandung Regency BPBD Post in Baleendah, no officers were seen on duty. However, based on data posted on the Bandung Regency BPBD's social media accounts, the 2026 flood affected seven sub-districts.
Head of the Bandung Regency BPBD, Wahyudin, said that the seven sub-districts affected by the rain accompanied by strong winds were Bojongsoang, Arjasari, Cangkuang, Banjaran, Pameungpeuk, Pacet, and Baleendah.
"The number of evacuees fluctuates, but reaches hundreds of people from the seven sub-districts. Most have taken refuge in sports halls in nearby villages or sub-districts," explained Wahyudin.
He added that in three sub-districts: Dayeuhkolot, Bojongsoang, and Baleendah, the number of affected residents reached 34,497. (Rep pun/bhf)
