PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Heavy rain on Monday (3/3) night to Tuesday (4/3/2025) early morning caused flooding in the Bekasi City and Regency areas, West Java.

The Bekasi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that seven sub-districts were affected by the flood, including East Bekasi, North Bekasi, South Bekasi, Medan Satria, Jatiasih, Pondok Gede and Rawalumbu sub-districts.

A total of 140 houses were submerged with the air height reaching 300 centimeters. The Bekasi City BPBD distributed logistical assistance and sent a number of rubber boats to remove affected residents.

In addition, PLN Bekasi City turned off the electricity in several affected areas to prevent victims from being electrocuted during the flood.

Meanwhile, in Bekasi Regency, rain accompanied by water discharge from rivers in the upstream area caused flooding in six sub-districts, namely Cibarusah, Serang Baru, Setu, North Cikarang, Cibitung and North Tambun Sub-districts.

The Bekasi Regency BPBD reported that the air height reached 150 centimeters, submerging 15 houses. Based on visual monitoring in the field, until Tuesday (3/4/2025) morning, floods were still inundating several areas. BPBD and the joint team evacuated affected residents using rubber boats.

Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. TNI Dr. Suharyanto S.Sos., MM said that the central government through BNPB supports the needs of local governments and affected communities during the flood emergency response period in the Jabodetabek area.

"We will deploy personnel to each affected area and equipment as needed in the field," said Suharyanto at the Flood Handling Press Conference in the Jabodetabek Area, Tuesday (4/3/2025).

BNPB appealed to local governments and communities to remain vigilant against the potential for further flooding, evacuate to safer places and prepare basic needs as needed and follow the instructions of authorized officers. (guh)
