PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Garut Regency held a coordination meeting to prepare for the regulation of Campaign Equipment (APK) on Saturday night (11/23/2024).

The event took place at the Bawaslu Media Center of Garut Regency, Jalan Ranbidango, Tarogong Kaler, involving various related parties, including Bawaslu Commissioners, KPU Commissioners, Head of Garut Satpol PP, representatives of the Pilkada Desk, representatives of SKPD, and LO of the candidate pairs (paslon) for Regent and Deputy Regent.

Head of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Garut Regency, Usep Basuki Eko, emphasized the commitment of the local government to support the regulation of APK according to the rules. Based on the KPU Regulation, candidate pairs are required to take down APK independently no later than three days before the voting period.

"They are given the opportunity to submit it no later than 3 days before the voting period, which means that maybe tonight (Saturday) at 23.59, it must be submitted by each candidate pair and supporting party," he said.

He hopes that the candidate pairs can take down their APK before the eviction period, because if they have entered the eviction period, then the candidate pairs have violated the rules set by the KPU.

He added that coordination has been carried out up to the sub-district level for the readiness of personnel and equipment for the enforcement. "We have prepared members in the field, after coordination, later those who lead, those who lead the enforcement will be together, because this is the election organizer, here there is the KPU, there is Bawaslu, while our personnel and equipment are ready to be deployed," he said.

Likewise at the sub-district level, added Usep Basuki Eko, they are ready because every Saturday night they continue to carry out Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) with the police.

Usep also appealed to the public to support the smooth running of the 2024 Garut Regency Pilkada by maintaining the agreement and coming to cast their votes at the TPS on November 27.

"Don't let Garut City become disorderly, and its cleanliness is also disturbed because of the campaign equipment. So hopefully these Candidates, I am sure they understand the existing rules, namely the rules of the KPU," he said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of the Garut Regency Bawaslu, Yusuf Firdaus, said that this coordination meeting aims to prepare for the supervision of the quiet period, in accordance with the RI Bawaslu Instruction Letter Number 23 of 2024 concerning the Patrol Supervision of the Quiet Period in the Gubernatorial Election and
Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, and Mayor and Deputy Mayor in 2024. The instruction emphasizes coordination between Bawaslu, KPU, and Satpol PP to ensure that there is no campaigning in any form during the quiet period.

"Then order the ranks of Election supervisors at the provincial and district levels to deliver letters of appeal to all candidate pairs for regent, deputy regent, governor, deputy governor, and mayor, deputy mayor not to carry out campaign activities in any form during the quiet period," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of physical and digital APK control to maintain neutrality and order during the quiet period. In addition to physical APK control, his party also reminded that there should be no more campaigns on social media or mass media, because these media are also part of one of the campaign methods.

"We have sent a written appeal to all pairs of regent and vice regent candidates regarding this quiet period," he concluded. (Garut Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
