PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) of Bekasi Regency distributed Rp500 million in aid to 500 students who have memorized the Qur'an through the Bekasi Takwa program at the BAZNAS Building Hall, Bekasi Regency, Monday (26/10/2026).
Each student receives assistance of IDR 1 million as a form of appreciation and motivation to continue learning and improve their memorization of the Qur'an.
Bekasi Regency Regional Secretary Endin Samsudin appreciated BAZNAS, the Bekasi Regency Ministry of Religion, and the educators who guided the students memorizing the Al-Quran.
"On behalf of the local government, we express our gratitude and appreciation to the Chairperson and staff of the Bekasi Regency BAZNAS, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the educators and students. We hope this assistance will be a blessing and motivate those who have memorized the Quran to continue learning and improving their memorization," said Endin.
According to him, the program supports the development of human resources with character and religious values. He hopes the number of aid recipients will continue to grow so that more students can receive support.
Endin emphasized that the collaboration between the Bekasi Regency Government and BAZNAS also plays a role in poverty alleviation, improving the quality of human resources, and strengthening the community's economy.
"We must continue to maintain and improve this collaboration. The direct benefits received from BAZNAS have already been numerous. Moving forward, we hope to expand the program's reach so that more people in Bekasi Regency can benefit," he said.
He invited state civil servants (ASN), the business world, and the public to increase their participation in distributing zakat, infaq, and alms through BAZNAS so that the reach of aid would be wider.
"Going forward, we hope that zakat payers will not only come from civil servants, but also from the business and industrial sectors. This will allow the Bekasi Regency BAZNAS to implement more programs to help those in need," Endin said.
Baznas Expands Support for Islamic Boarding School Students
The Head of BAZNAS Bekasi Regency, H. Aminulloh, explained that the assistance for 500 students is part of the Bekasi Takwa program which is implemented continuously every year.
Registration is open online for public access. The program does not set a minimum number of memorized juz as a primary requirement, but instead considers the program's requirements, age, and individual student abilities.
"This is a token of our appreciation for the children who have memorized the Quran. We want them to feel cared for and be even more motivated to continue memorizing. They are a generation we need to support, as they are expected to become future leaders with good morals," said Aminulloh.
In addition to Bekasi Takwa, BAZNAS Bekasi Regency runs the Smart Bekasi, Healthy Bekasi, Caring Bekasi, and Independent Bekasi programs.
The Bekasi Takwa program includes religious assistance, including support for Islamic boarding school students, Quran memorizers, and mosque imams.
Aminulloh stated that the collection of zakat, infaq, and alms is still dominated by civil servants. Therefore, BAZNAS hopes for increased participation from the private sector, the business world, and industry.
According to him, the presence of industrial areas and a large workforce makes Bekasi Regency have significant potential for zakat collection. However, expanding collaboration requires clear regulatory support to ensure its implementation complies with regulations.
"We hope that companies, professionals, and the community working in Bekasi Regency will also participate through zakat (alms), infaq (donations), sedekah (charity), and corporate social responsibility programs. We will manage the funds collected to help those in need in Bekasi Regency," he said.
Through Bekasi Takwa, BAZNAS hopes that support for the generation of Quran memorizers will be strengthened through collaboration between local governments, religious institutions, the business world, and the community.
Assistance Becomes Motivation to Memorize the Qur'an
One of the aid recipients, Amila Hurilaini (13), a class VIII student from Cibarusah, said she was happy to receive aid through the Bekasi Takwa program.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm happy. This assistance can also motivate me to be even more enthusiastic about studying and memorizing the Quran," said Amila.
He said he began memorizing the Quran in fourth grade, when he started boarding school. To this day, he regularly adds to his memorization (ziyadah) and recite it (murojaah), including after congregational Dhuhr prayers.
"To my friends my age, don't be lazy about memorizing the Quran. Stay motivated to study, diligently review your reading, and keep reviewing so you don't forget. Hopefully, we can all memorize the Quran and apply its contents in our daily lives," said Amila.
