PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is continuing its beautification program on 17 tourist corridor roads by integrating sidewalk improvements, road repairs, and public transportation development to provide safer, more comfortable access and support the activities of residents and tourists throughout 2026.
As of (8/6/2026), five road overlay work packages have been 100 percent completed, including the Astanaanyar–Panjunan Road section, LLRE Martadinata Road, Ir. H. Juanda Road, Lengkong Besar–Lengkong Kecil Road, and East Station–Perintis Kemerdekaan Road.
The completion of this project will accelerate improvements in road quality along several key corridors serving as mobility routes for the community and supporting tourism areas in Bandung City.
In addition to road repairs, the city government is also rehabilitating sidewalks by improving pedestrian access, normalizing drainage channels, installing bollards, and replacing sidewalk materials to make them safer and more comfortable to use.
Implementation data shows that the highest progress in sidewalk arrangement is on Jalan Wastukancana, which has reached 64.56 percent.
Braga Street followed with an achievement of 53.71 percent, while Tamblong Street reached 23.89 percent.
Several other sections, such as Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, Jalan LLRE Martadinata, Jalan Sunda, Jalan Sumatera, Jalan Jawa, Jalan Asia Afrika, and Jalan Cihampelas, are still on track for the second quarter of 2026.
This program also supports the development of public transportation through the Jalan Veteran, Naripan, Asia Afrika, Suniaraja, and Jalan Banceuy corridors which are part of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route.
The existence of BRT is expected to improve connectivity between regions while reducing people's dependence on private vehicles.
In other overlay work, the Merdeka, Braga, and Wastukancana roads have reached 85.73 percent progress.
Work on the Jalan Tamansari and Jalan Sulanjana corridors was recorded at 58.04 percent.
Meanwhile, work progress on Jalan Aceh and Jalan Menado has reached 50.16 percent, while Jalan Sunda is at 44.52 percent.
Overall, the overlay work in the beautification program includes road treatment along approximately 10.24 kilometers with a work area of more than 119 thousand square meters.
This program aims to improve road user safety, strengthen pedestrian accessibility, beautify tourist areas, and support economic growth by improving the comfort of public spaces.
The new face of several main roads in Bandung City is gradually starting to appear as projects are being completed that are targeted to provide direct benefits to the community and tourists.
