PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Dedy Supriyadi led a strategy meeting on prevention and handling of cases against women and children in Bekasi Regency initiated by the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP3A).

The activity, which was also attended by Asda 1 of Bekasi Regency Sri Enny Minarti, took place in the KH. R Ma'mun Nawawi meeting room, Bekasi Regent's Building, Central Cikarang, on Thursday (12/09/2024).

Dedy Supriyadi said that the Bekasi Regency Government (Pemdakab) is currently trying to overcome and prevent cases of violence against women and children across sectors, starting from the government, the prosecutor's office, to the TNI-Polri.

According to Dedy, the number of cases in Bekasi Regency was quite high throughout 2024, and was even considered an emergency.
"In essence, the Bekasi Regency Government together with the Forkopimda supports collaboration in handling violence against women and children," he said.

In addition, the Bekasi District Government together with cross-sectors will hold concrete programs with the main targets being students and women.

"So this collaboration involves all elements, especially related agencies, there are Education Office, DP3A, Kesbangpol and others," he said.

Concretely, education to reduce the number of violence in a sustainable manner will be called the Collaborative School for the Development of Mental Orientation and National Character Patterns (Kompol School). It is planned to be launched in October 2024.

"We do not want any more lives to be lost. This is truly our commitment, especially to minimize the violence to zero if possible," he said.

Dedy also emphasized that he will conduct an evaluation of the Violence Prevention and Handling Team in each educational unit under the auspices of the Bekasi Regency Education Office. Although all schools have formed one, he will monitor the activity and work carried out by the team.

Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP3A), Iis Sandra Yanti explained, based on data from the last 4 years, in 2020 there were 70 cases of violence and increased in 2023 to 269 cases. The highest trend in the distribution of these cases is mostly sexual violence.

"We in Bekasi Regency are ranked second in West Java in terms of the number of cases of violence against women and children, out of 27 regencies and cities," he explained when presenting the prevention strategy.

On the other hand, DP3A has made service efforts to reduce the number of cases of violence. For example, which has been implemented by the UPTD Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and women and children services in the District and village.

"Of the 269 cases, there were 34 cases of physical violence. 42 cases of sexual violence, 17 cases of KBGO, 51 cases of domestic violence, 18 cases of bullying, 32 cases of sexual intercourse, and 72 cases of others including brawls," he said.

In reducing the number of existing cases, DP3A has collaborated with the police, the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Religion, Bapas, LPSK, KPAD, Kodim 0509/Bekasi Regency, the National Commission on Violence Against Women, the National Commission on Children, the Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities, the Women's Center and the Bekasi Regency regional apparatus.

"Bekasi Regency Government has formed UPTD and Women and Children Protection Services whose task is to form a network to accelerate the case handling process. Then we have formed PATBM (Community-Based Integrated Child Protection) targeting all villages, but currently there are only 7 villages," he said.

In the discussion of this meeting, explained Iis, the focus was on the Kompol School whose leading sector is in Kesbangpol.

"What we will try next is the children need special protection (AMPK) program, cases of brawls, bullying, that is AMPK, then Kompol School and optimization of TPPK in schools, so that we know how far we can resolve and work so that bullying or brawls do not occur in schools," he concluded.
