MOBILE LAND DISASTER, 12 Day Emergency Response Period Implemented in Cigombong

PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. WEST BANDUNG - Emergency response status will be implemented in Cigombong Village, Cibedug Village, Rongga District, West Bandung Regency starting March 1 2024. Emergency response will be activated for the next 12 days.

Cigombong Village experienced a land movement disaster on February 18 2024 and as of Friday (1/3), land movement was still occurring and the impact was widespread.

Acting Chief Executive of the West Java BPBD, Anne Hermadianne Adnan, said that land movement starts every minute, and it is necessary to anticipate the accumulation of land into the Cidadap River.

"Security is now tightened to enter the disaster location day and night because ground movements start every minute," said Anne.

He said that the West Java BPBD had sent aid in the form of 50 basic food packages and 25 liter boxes of water. West Bandung Regency BPBD set up a disaster post and public kitchen.

As a result of the damage from the moving land, 3 houses were seriously damaged, 8 houses were moderately damaged, and 36 houses were threatened.

Apart from that, damage also affected the Babakan Talang State Elementary School building, a unit of public facilities, and the Coigombong - Cihurang Village access road.

"The cause was the high intensity rain that hit the area and the unstable ground surface," he said.

As a result of this disaster, 47 families/155 people were affected and 48 families/192 people were displaced.

West Java BPBD has coordinated with West Bandung Regency BPBD. West Bandung BPBD carried out assessments and coordinated with related parties for heavy equipment, as well as preparation of emergency response posts and their equipment.

According to Anne, the current handling is also focused on improving connecting road access for several villages which were closed due to landslides so that no community is isolated.

Apart from that, he added, as a result of a joint investigation with sub-district and village officials, teaching and learning activities at schools were temporarily stopped to avoid undesirable things. Meanwhile, students are currently studying at home.
