PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has begun mapping out basic infrastructure improvements in Samoja Village. The main focus is addressing drainage overflow from the South Ring Road into residential areas and improving street lighting.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that the character of the problem in Samoja is quite unique because it is directly related to the flow of water from the main road to residential areas.

"This is one of the sub-districts on the Southern Ring Road. It stretches from Jalan Laswi to Pelajar Pejuang. So, the main problem is drainage overflow from the Southern Ring Road into residential areas," said Farhan after the Disaster Preparedness Neighborhood Security (Siskamling Siaga Bencana) on Tuesday (February 10, 2026).

According to him, the problem is not a major flood point, but rather recurring water inundation and runoff that needs to be addressed by improving the flow system.

"It's not a major flooding event, but as usual, there's inundation and runoff. We do need to fix that, especially the drainage system," he said.

In addition to drainage, Farhan also touched on street lighting repair services and other supporting facilities that can be handled directly by the technical department.

"For street lighting (PJL), street lighting (PJG), and street lighting (PJU), if anything can be repaired, repair it immediately. This is part of the Transportation Agency's service," he said.

On the other hand, Farhan admitted that he was studying complaints from residents in a number of areas regarding the LKK (Sub-district Community Institution) budget, which has been an instrument for community empowerment.

"We're currently studying this because complaints have begun to emerge in several regions about the LKK budget. The LKK's core focus is empowerment and independence. I'm looking for ways to provide more incentives for them. But I haven't made any promises yet; we're still studying it," he explained.

He explained that the budget proposal mechanism is now different because it relies more on community discussions at the RW level.

"Previously, the government made the decision. Now, it's based on family discussions. So, we hold the neighborhood unit (RW)-level Musrenmbang (Regional Development Planning) directly," he explained.

The improvements in Samoja Village illustrate how the Bandung City Government is mapping specific issues at the village level, from basic infrastructure and street lighting to strengthening the role of residents in development planning.

The Disaster Preparedness Neighborhood Security (Siskamling) program will be followed up with regional monitoring by relevant regional government agencies (OPDs). Issues that can be addressed immediately will be addressed. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
