PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - It is believed that the role of youth can make a region more empowered and advanced. This also happened in Derwati Village, Bandung City.

Derwati Village Head Rozi Sepintra said that community empowerment in his area is relatively active. This is because Karang Taruna plays an active role together with other communities in participating in development in the Derwati area.

"Karang Taruna has a community empowerment effect," he said during the Bandung Public Relations Joint Podcast, Wednesday (27/3/2024)

One of the results, Derwati Village has been 100 percent free from ODF (Open Defecation Free) since 2022.

Not only that, there are around 20 MSMEs that are fostered and active in Derwati Village. Of this number, on average it is managed by young people. Among them are MSMEs with salted eggs, crackers and rubber sandals.

"Salted egg production is sent out of town. Even though it is still a home-based business, it is capable of sending thousands of eggs per day," he said.

According to him, MSMEs in the Derwati area also play a significant role in community empowerment.

The main key, continued Rozi, is the need for perseverance and strength under both mental pressure and competitiveness with other products.

Rozi also revealed that other activities that were very active were PKK, KB Village, Puspel PP (Women's Service and Empowerment Center).

"Everything is running thanks to the support of all stakeholders in the Derwati area," he said.
