PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government continues to intensify waste management starting from the source.

This is an effort to reduce waste disposal, so that it can be utilized and generate economic value.

In addition to household waste, office waste is also a must-solve. Starting from food to packaging that still uses materials that are not environmentally friendly and are difficult to recycle.

Currently, the Office of Food Security and Agriculture has declared its area as zero food waste.

This declaration was also supported by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara, by sticking his finger using a cat as his support.

"We are launching zero food waste at the DKPP office. This ensures that there is no more food waste," said Koswara at the Bandung City DKPP Office (10/16/2024).

Head of DKPP Bandung City, Gin Gin Ginanjar said, declaring this as a form of commitment of all employees to manage waste starting from its source.

"This is our commitment to build an office area with zero wood waste," he said.

"We strengthen DKPP which has long been conducting independent waste processing. For example, animal waste into compost to maggots," added Gin Gin.

Gin Gin said that this commitment is a commitment from all employees to follow the agreed commitments.

"Reducing food that uses packaging, we even have a commitment to eat enough if it is not finished there is a fine of IDR 5,000," he said.

The following are 11 points of the declaration of the implementation of zero food waste by the Bandung City DKPP:

1. Eat enough and finish it, if there is any left over or not finished you will be fined Rp. 5,000.
2. Avoid consuming food and drinks that use styrofoam plastic packaging or other materials that are not environmentally friendly.
3. Sort waste in each work area.
4. Prohibiting the bringing of food and drinks in plastic packaging within the Bandung City DKPP environment.
5. Employees drink using tumblers and bring their own containers for eating.
6. Provide rewards or punishments to employees who litter and do not sort their waste.
7. Maintain cleanliness, beauty and comfort in the workplace.
8. Save water and electricity usage
9. Leftover food (if any) is deposited into the maggot management.
10. Manage organic waste, animal waste and remaining slaughterhouse waste into compost or maggots.
