PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. MAJALENGKA - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin checked the readiness of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati Majalengka for the departure of prospective Hajj pilgrims on May 12.

BIJB Kertajati will serve 13,000 Hajj candidates from the Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) Subang Regency, Sumedang Regency, Bandung Regency and Bandung City areas.

While checking several facilities at BIJB Kertajati. Bey Machmudin spoke with the Managing Director of BIJB and asked him to add several directional signs so that the airport, which is the pride of West Java residents, would be busier.

"Indeed, I asked the Managing Director (BIJB) that there should be directional signs, also that the airport should not be too quiet because (in order) to give the departing congregation joy and happiness," said Bey Machmudin, at BIJB Kertajati Majalengka, Friday (3 /5/2024).

Bey also asked the airport to pay attention to services for pilgrims, many of whom are dominated by the elderly, so that they feel comfortable and safe when they are at the airport.

"Earlier we saw that everything was quite good, but later I asked for things like more toilet cleaning services and officers accompanying the pilgrims. I got information from the Regional Office that most of them were elderly (going on Hajj)," he said.

To respond to the large number of elderly pilgrims, Bey said he had prepared 10 wheelchairs and two golf cars to provide comfort and security to the congregation.

"We have prepared 10 wheelchairs and there will also be two golf cars. In essence, we want the congregation to be safe when leaving and returning," concluded Bey.

Meanwhile, the total number of prospective Hajj pilgrims departing from West Java Province was 40,000. A total of 13,000 depart from Kertajati, the remainder will fly from Soekarno Hatta Airport.
